Default Why does my cat do this?

Before she goes to sleep, she moves her paws up and down on my bed and sometimes on me too before she lays down.
Its very cute, but I dont know why they do this.

I thought maybe they do it as instinct, when they were kittens they would push their paws up and down on the mothers breast to get milk from her.
Is that why?

Ive heard people call it pushies, or making biscuits, which is so cute

I think it is a comforting habit left over from kittenhood. All of my cats do that too; it's so cute.

My cats used to do this too. When I watched them, it seemed almost like they were nesting, so I assumed that was what it was. It looks almost like they are kneading the thing they are about to lie on to make it more comfortable to sleep on. The nursing with their mother makes a whole lot more sense though lol.

I asked my vet about that and he said that it's the way they nest sometimes but also maybe they were taken away from their mothers too soon.
