Default Flea Control?

What do you do to keep fleas at bay? We have an especially hard time around here because we don't get hard freezes during the winter to kill off the flea population. With a new baby, I'm hoping we'll be able to keep fleas out of the house!

We currently use the drops you put on the animals, plus we give our dog a flea bath every other week and vacuum a lot.

Default fleas

So with 8 we know the trouble all to well.......
First we apply frontline plus to them a few days after a bath. It needs the body oils to spread. Now we got a hartz product the other day that wroked real well!
Then we mix some flea killer dip with fabreeze and spray it on carpet and chairs that they use.
Then we use Malathion dilutent ina spray bottle. open teh wondows when its ncie out and spray everything.
We even use a bit of flea dip in the washer with their blankets.
Vacuuming here is a pain, so we went to bare floors with washable rugs.

We are really lucky in that we don't have fleas up here for very long. I think our season is the shortest in the united states, aside from Alaska that is.

We use flea collars and do flea baths twice a month during flea season. We double up and use flea collars AND the flea medication that goes between their shoulder blades when we travel. I sure don't want the dogs getting fleas and then sitting right beside our 2 year old's car seat!
