Default Kate Spade Ponza Zeynep

Kate Spade Ponza Zeynep

By: Erin D.

Weird name, weird handbag. This Kate Spade Ponza Zeynep - inspired by a stylish island in the Pontine archipelago - is made of rope-like woven jute (in a blah oatmeal beige color) and white or navy boarskin leather. The shoulder bag has one leather strap and an ornate gold turnlock closure. While I admire the leather details, the jute material’s rough texture is unappealing and harsh, and overall it seems like a strange beach-bag-goes-business hybrid that doesn’t really work. The nautical theme just falls flat here, in my opinion.

I'm normally a fan of KS, but I don't care for this bag. Then again, I'm not one to pay a designer price for straw or jute or similar fabrics. I would imagine this would feel rough against the skin (esp. important with a summer bag). Thanks, but no thanks, KS.
