Mighty Aphrodite. One would expect the mythological Goddess of love to sprout forth when you open the flap to this
satin clamshell evening bag. The elegant fabric and the crystallized straps on the
purse are definitely tailored for a night out at the opera, gala, theater. However, the shape and theme borders on the gimmicky, and I’m not sure how relevant carrying this fanciful shape is in this day of sophisticated understatement.
Judith Lieber has definitely built her reputations as a maker of the most luxurious novelty clutches. She made her fame on the jeweled minaudières back in the 1980s, but are they still appropriate now? I’ll let the die-hard classic fans decide.
