This Kate Spade Russian Hill Maya bag takes its name from San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood, but there’s definitely a Russian (as in Moscow) influence afoot. Irresistibly soft midnight blue velvet gives the satchel a romantic, if old-fashioned, Anna Karenina vibe. Other touches include a snakeskin trim, gold hardware, wooden handles, and satin lining. The satchel is said to be inspired by knitting bag, and it hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately, it’s also the matronly bag’s biggest problem: Who but a grandma wants to tote around a knitting bag, even if it is decked out in luxe velvet?

it does have a very Russian and royal feel to it. This bag is so romantic and sophisticated.

I agree, it's very elegant and romantic. I can see that on the red carpet. Why can't these bags be $100 grrr

Hahaha! Im with you Ang. Why can't they lower the price a bit more? The bag looks very elegant, I can see a queen carrying this bag.
