Paris Fashion Week Update: Louis Vuitton

Paris Fashion Week ended with one of its final shows,
the
2007 Spring/Summer Collection from Louis Vuitton
(designed by
Marc Jacobs). While the Paris shows are
generally thought of as showcasing the most inventive
and imaginative collections (versus Milan or New
York), this year many of the collections were
critisized for lacking the creative edge one expects
in a Paris show. One critisism of the LV show was
that it was a bit too commercial. Almost all of the
runway models, for example, carried
handbags, which
happen to be Louis Vuitton’s hottest selling items.
Despite the critisism, I remain a diehard fan of MJ’s
designs for Louis - in my opinion, he should take over
design at
Chanel as well.
