The Mix Quilted collection is something new for Marc Jacobs collection. The handbags are constructed of leather with quilting only making up a portion of the body of the bag. The rest is done in pleating or solid leather, making for a nice play on texture that aligns perfectly and doesn’t get too crazy. The MJ Dash is a shoulder bag with long chain handles, and minimal hardware. There’s no huge kisslock closure, and no giant buckles. I do like this purse in general, but what is bothering me is that the gold is so gold. It’s a bright yellow gold, which is not always flattering when worn with various pieces of gold jewelry. I really wish MJ would go back to the antique brass used during Fall 2005. Alas, I’ll have to pass on this bag. While the shape is rather classic, the yellow gold just doesn’t cut it for a girl who loves darker hardware. The Dash is available at NeimanMarcus.com and retails for $1,450.
