It’s not going to change the world or anything, but you have to applaud a bit of adventure every now and then. A clutch attached to a tote, all the better to make those small things that roll around and disappear into that cavernous space you call a purse easier to access? Well…it’s not the prettiest looking bag, but Marc Jacobs might be on to something with his Duffy Shoulder Bag, which finds an exuberant fuchsia going head to head with a slapped-on little clutch bearing plenty of sparkling red sequins. A rhinestone kiss-lock frog (really) snaps the little clutch closed and finishes the whole thing off with a sparkly flourish.


If the idea is to be functionally sensible without sacrificing quirkiness, the result is a success. Given that, I wouldn’t dream of carrying this. What’s with the straight-outta-art-class grosgrain shoulder strap? Yes, that is my biggest problem with this bag. Pre-order it for €1770 at LuisaViaRoma.
