Balenciaga Runway Report: Paris Fashion Week

The riding hats are gone! While Balenciaga achieved magazine layout glory with its eye-catching equestrian hats, the spring/summer collection they showed during Paris Fashion Week took a sharp detour. Clearly influenced by the 1980s—though some ensembles were straight out of “Star Wars”—the bold collection featured a predominantly black and gold color palette, futuristic leather leggings with metallic adornments, glossy skinny slacks, and lots of leather, both patent and otherwise. Dramatic, futuristic, and boasting lots of fascinating architectural design. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with next season.
