New City, New Relationship!

I just moved to New York, and I'm having a pretty difficult time adjusting to the dating scene. Does anyone have tips for finding love in a new city? Especially in a city like New York, where it's not particuarly safe or friendly to go to a bar alone?

maybe you should just be open and friendly to people...don't be frigid..im sure some guy would notice you right away every guy loves a smile

I assume you moved for work? Can you make some female friends at work and head out with them? What about going more neutral places like the theatre instead of typical bars?

I don't know what the social scene is like in the USA - over here in the UK there are clubs and groups for just about every interest imaginable, so it's easy to make friends.
