Default IUD's

I just recently got an IUD because I thought that this was the best method of prevention right now. It seems like every since I had it put in I have been so sick and nausea. I was wondering if anyone else could relate or could tell me if this is going to get better.

The IUD as used today often contains hormones. So you are constantly exposed, rather than the once a day dose in the pill. I can fully believe that this can cause problems for you. Additionally, it can cause massive problems for period pain. Not my cup of tea.

The doctor said that it could be a possible side effect. Mentioning the pain and cramping it appears that it has increased and is pretty painful. The doctor said that my cycles may stop altogether. Don't really know if I like that idea.

I wouldn't like that either-the pain OR the stopped cycles. There are a lot of things I can't stand about the IUD in truth and the side effects to the woman are only a small part of that.

for birth control, i've been using Nuva Ring for a year now and it's awesome!!! you just deal with it once a month - no worrying about forgetting your pill. it may even be a low dose of hormones. talk to your gyn about it!

This is a wonderful idea! I asked about it after I had my baby but couldn't have it because I was breastfeeding. I believe it contains oestrogen, which is a no no for nursing mums.

I had a copper IUD a few years ago - it didn't have too bad an experience with it. If my experience of the pill is anything to go by, then I think the hormonal ones could have been a bit more of an issue. I'm on the injections now, which apparently are a lower dose.

I hadn't heard of the Nuva ring - I wonder if that is available in the UK.
