What Do Tween Girls Like?

I have a niece that is 12 years old and I'd like to get her a present as I hear she's been doing well at school.

The thing is, she's in that in-between stage. Sometimes she likes childish cartoons with dogs and fluffy cats, sometimes she wants to be all grown up and likes rap music or racing car games.

She bought a cluedo game and a nancy drew game for her PC recently, but when I went and looked at other stuff like that I started thinking 'If someone got me that when I was 12 I would have been insulted that they thought I was still a kid into that kind of stuff'.

Can anyone suggest any 'neutral ground' stuff? She changes her interests all the time, and I can't get her any of the music or adult games she likes as technically she's not 'allowed' to play / listen to them.
