Default Anyone Tried the Mooncup?

Does anyone here use the mooncup? I'm on contraceptive injections at the moment, so don't have periods, but if I ever go back to the coil, I'm thinking of trying one.

They're better for the environment than tampons, and supposedly safer health wise too. I'm just concerned about how messy they might be, and how you're supposed to clean them.

Not the mooncup, but I've got a diva cup. It's a little softer and more flexible than a mooncup, and really is easy to take care of. The use is comfortable and a lot of women say their periods are easier when using that instead of tampons.

I don't find it messy, but I do use it just at home right now. I haven't been brave enough to face the washing and redoing it out and about-I mean that would be a double bathroom visit, and just not so convenient.

Thanks for the response britjojo - I wasn't aware that there were variations of the mooncup idea made by other companies.

Elaine - you can find out more about the mooncup on their company site (http://www.mooncup.co.uk/index.html).

I don't have heavy / painful periods, but I am concerned about using tampons for health reasons (sticking bleached material somewhere so sensitive can't be healthy, let alone the risk of TSS).

Based on what you've said, Britjojo, I think I'll give one a shot in the near future.
