Default Female Medical Exams???? Fears and questions.

SO I am kinda embarrased to ask this but.....how many of you get "female medical exams" on a regular basis.....yearly or what ever the normal is????? I have never had one, and I am getting to the age where one really should. I am concerned aobut cancer.

I know I should get one, but I am so darn paranoid of catching an STD from the doctors office if someone that had an STD was in the room before me. I have heard that it can happen and it scare the bejeezus out of me!!! THere are alot of scary diseases out there and if someone didnt clean stuff correctly in the doctors office you could catch a STD. at least thats what I think?

can any of you offer any advice on this issue??

You can get a home examination kit or you can have the doctor make a house call.

Either of those will help you eleviate your fears

Be sure to include a breast scan into you "female" exam. You can never be too cautious, especially if you are in your 30's!

Also, what I have found is to have a consultation with a doctor you feel comfortable with. Some like a very professional doctor, others like one that can be warmed up to a talk to on an almost personal level.

Good Luck!

I am not certain what exactly you girls are referring to but I can tell you I always felt like my OBGYN spent a little more time down there than he really needed to.

I've been having a little problem (I hope it's little),concerning vaginal itching. I'm really embarrassed to talk about such things, but this place makes me feel comfortable if you know what I mean. I just need some advice as to what to do about it. It's sooooo embarrassing to be out in the supermarket or someplace else in public, and start itching like crazy! What can I do about this? Things like that have never happened to me! Please help me!

You need to go find the fromuna cheese thread sister. LOL just kidding.

Vaginal itch can come from a number of places. I would find the source of the problem first. Go see your doctor or Lake Pirate is a good gyno- physician. She does a through inspection and leaves no stone unturned.

I have never had a problem with my OB/GYN's. I get regular annual exams and will continue that practice.

The idea of getting an STD from an exam table or speculum is ludicrous. If the office you visit gives you the impression they don't thoroughly clean and sterilize equipment after each and every patient, you need to find another office.

Maybe I am just a spoiled brat from the Silicon Valley where cleanliness is the fulcrum on which most physicians exist.

Schedule an appointment and go!

Aunt Bea,

You are too paranoid. And too focused on STDs. It really is unhealthy to worry about it so much.

Practice safe sex, don't share a needle, and you will be fine!

Not going to the doctor because you are afraid of catching an STD is mentally ill. I don't say it to be mean, but it's the truth.

Aunt Bea, you should be going to your gyno once a year. I'm only 20, and I've been going once a year since the age of 16. Gotta make sure everything checks out good down there!

OH I am here! read my post about penis cancer. I was gone because my dad is gone to the hospital and I was there iwth him. I dont like being in hospitals, I am afraid of catching STD's there.

I dont mean to be that way, I just am. I had a lesbian friedn that had an STD, She died. its very scary. I once heard you can catch STD's from sitting on toilet seats too. so I wont pee in public places anymore. I pee at home, and then dont drink anything while out and about. If I gotta pee really bad, I just squat down outside behind a car in a parking lot or somthing like that. at least you dotn catch any diseases that day.

Aunt Bea, I don't know what set off your raging paranoia about STD's and who explained how they are transmitted, but you are in DESPERATE need of some education in the matter.

There is a reason they are called SEXUALLY transmitted diseases, they are TRANSMITTED SEXUALLY. Not by toilet seats and all these other crazy contrived reasons you are talking about. Take a class, it will help you understand it better.

Yea, but with all the strange kinds of sex in the world today, you never know if someone had sex on a door knob or somthing and then I touched it, and touch my private parts after going potty. Gosh I dont want to get a STD. How could I ever go to church after getting an STD!!! I would be so embarrased. God would know I had one!

well, don't leave out open mouth kissing as a potential hazard... It's not a probable, but it's possible.

OH yea!!! I heard that too! taht you can get STD's from kissing! I dont kiss anymore because of that. I will let my mom kiss me on the cheek but thats it. She is most likely clean, but it still makes me uneasy when she kisses me. she did have a wildstreak back in the 60's so I dont think she as HIV or anything.

I bet those herpes commercials really freak you out. You know, the ones where one partner has herpes and the other doesn't and they talk about Valtrex.

I'd have to REALLY love someone to overlook herpes.

Aunt Bea please check out WebMD because they have all sorts of answers from A to Z.No you cannot catch any STD form stitting on a public toilet bowl.If i am mistaken, once the virus hits the air,it ends up dying. So don't worry.Besides now a days, they have those hygienic paper toilet seat covers ...so relax.
