Default Is shorter hair still considered more professional?

I think this trend is changing. Most of the career advice you'd hear a few years ago said that shorter hair is more neat and professional.

But why should a woman have shorter hair just for her job? I don't think it's necessary really. What do you think?

its not in the hair,.but the way you carry your dress and the way you dress also...maybe for men yes, i would consider that shorter hair is more neat and professional..

I don't think that there are many jobs that will require you to have short hair, at least not in the U.S, if you are a woman. Unless you have a job that is based on looks, like acting or modeling, they really don't make that a requirement. By no means would that be professional behavior.

I don't know. I once cancelled a job interview because they said women weren't allowed to wear pants there.

ricci, this was at a very well known guard company. I think the owner is just old-fashioned. No, it wasn't a guard job, but in the corporate part.

I also wondered if it was legal, but I guess dress codes are legal in private companies.

I think that the professional image just requires you to be neatly groomed. Having your hair down on your face, short or long, is unprofessional. Some short hair cuts can be extremely sexy, saucy, and provocative. In thoise instances, short hair is not more professional.

IMO, you don't need short hair. You do, however, need to be steadfast about keeping it tied back and conservatively styled to get the respect you deserve. I am not saying it is right, but it is the way it is.

I just don't think that anyone should tell you how to wear your hair. NO man, for sure!

I have longer hair now, and when I want to look professional or put together, I pull it back in a bun.
