Default Learning to sew

Ok, lol, maybe it's old-fashioned to put this in the women's forum, but here you go.

What did you first make when learning to sew on a sewing machine? Is it possible to teach yourself?

Default my start

when i was 9 my mom and dad bought mne a sewing machine. I could nto dsew.
When i was about 18, i got a doll magazine and wanted to sew a doll.. so mom and dad went out and got me an inexpensive straight stitch machine from 1943.
I made a doll, doll clothes. But not justlittle clothes, rag dolls as long as your leg..
That was 30 years ago and I am still sewing.

Yes it is possible ot teach yourself to sew. Now more than ever. Singer Simple sewing machine is the ideal first machine and there are a number of macthing books. however teh way patterns are made today its foolproof.. even teh complicated one asre simpler to follow.

Sewing is pretty easy. I recently bought a machine and hope to start sewing a lot soon. Unfortunately I've been so busy lately it has just been collecting dust!
