In the Bag

Winter doldrums? Have no fear, Spring bags are here!
I always get upset when I see Halloween stuff go up in stores in August, and Christmas decorations and retail items just about bump elbows with the Halloween decorations in the doorway as they make their exit. Thanksgiving never really has a chance. But I do have to say that after one of the coldest, snowiest winters to date, it won’t hurt to take a few minutes to look at spring bags that are waiting in the wings for you.
Vivienne Westwood joins us on earth this season with a fun little bag called Summer Squiggle. How can you not look at this bag and smile? The natural leather shoulder bag has a pattern of red squiggly lines but don’t worry: the logo is still safe and sound and floating right in the middle of the bag. Available at Styledrops for $449.
The Red Valentino Bow Tote is a simple but classic looking bag that doesn’t go overboard. This buttery leather tote is adorned with one simple bow that provides the fashionable focal point. You can get this bag at Saks Fifth Ave for $450.
Even if you don’t have anything to wear with it, you might want to get the Penny Medium Suede and Elaphe Snakeskin Bucket Bag by Diane von Furstenberg because it is just a little charmer. Handles and tassels and straps, oh my! Made from papaya-colored suede with alternating panels of zebra stripes made of elaphe snakeskin, it’s making us look for excuses to carry it. It’s on sale at Net-a-Porter for $645.
At first glance you might not recognize this as a Gucci bag. But this denim and leather Cosmetic Case/Small Bag is a simple summer entry that is the perfect fit with skinny jeans. The light chain-link pattern is offset by the leather accents and adjustable shoulder strap. Light and lovely, this shoulder bag can be ordered from Styledrops for $519.
