We’re starting to see a lot of pre-fall bags filter their ways through to the big retailers. One of the first to catch my eye was this Bottega Veneta Fringe Top-Handle Tote. It’s hailed as a “contemporary take on the foldover carryall.” It does manage to make a traditional form look ultra-modern, but I’m not sure how I feel about this new fringe look. I’ve never been a huge Bottega Veneta fan; I appreciate their quality and intricacy in design, but they’ve always been a bit too bland for my taste. If this Bottega Veneta Veneta Intrecciato Leather Bag were a truffle, I’d gobble it right up. Since it’s merely a handbag, though, I’m just going to judge it. It looks yummy, like it’s been dipped in a vat of dark chocolate and topped with gooey caramel. Here’s the thing, though. In order to carry it, I’d have to severely limit my outfit’s color palette.
