Now that’s what I call a bad case of hat hair. Beyonce’s new wavy, mushroomy hairstyle may have been a major hair don’t, but her purple Dior Samourai 1947 woven handbag is a definite DO. The upscale purse some Sasha Fierce-ness to Beyonce’s Katy Perry-esque polka-dot playsuit, though I’d love to see her pair that gorgeous bag with something a bit more formal. Either way, the look is a winner…from the neck down, at least.

Somebody hand me my sunglasses. For Dior’s Fall ‘09 haute couture show in Paris, designer John Galliano turned up the color, and I for one loved every second of it. Bubblegum pink, foxy fuchsia, lemon and lime, scarlet red, intense orange, and posh purple frocks, suits, and voluminous blouses mingled with wild animal prints and ’50s-style underpinnings. There was a heavy dose of old-school glamour (very Audrey Hepburn in “Charade”), though not without a touch of whimsy, courtesy of extravagant feathered hats and a pale pink bow headpiece that makes Madonna’s Louis Vuitton bunny ears look low-key. And the handbags? Think classic and ladylike - chic framed bags in black croc and cream snakeskin. Please sir, can I have some more?

For someone who designs handbags, Jessica Simpson sure does spend a lot of money carrying other people’s couture creations. (Not that I blame her.) Already a well-known fan of Louis Vuitton and Roberto Cavalli, Jessica has now moved on to Dior, relying on a hot pink Lady Dior Woven Shopper to jazz up her low-key outfit of jeans and a gray shawl. The outfit is nothing to write about (and yet…), but I love that delicious shot of pink. It really pulls everything together and makes what could have been just a last-minute, thrown-together ensemble a an actual LOOK. Nice work, girl.

Looking good, girlfriend. Oscar winner Marion Cotillard channeled Old Hollywood glamour for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s huge Costume Institute Gala fashion extravaganza. Of course, it helps to have John Galliano by your side. The Dior designer smartly selected this soft peach strapless gown (by Dior, natch) for the star to wear, accented by a matching Dior Fold-Over Clutch. As the French would say, ‘Parfait!’

Ooh, look - it’s the Countess and Jill! “The Real Housewives of New York City” stars Jill Zarin and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps joined forces to promote the Countess’s new book on etiquette (which I know you’re dying to read), and Jill brought along her lovely Lady Dior Cannage Bag. It’s a good designer purse for her - luxurious, classic, and very status. Just what a socialite needs.

There are so many to-die-for neutral handbags out there right now that it’s nearly impossible to settle on just one. Dior’s La Trente Cannage Satchel is definitely a strong competitor, though.
