The changes in color of the brown leather stitching are subtle. However, the final effect of this is that the embellishments look richer, and more textured. While you could consider this bag a small work of art, the hobo itself is generously sized and contains an ample amount of pockets for practicality.

Unique, unexpected, perhaps a bit bizarre - all of these come to mind when presented with anything created by Isabella Fiore. The designer’s Main Squeeze Dominique Purse, though, just left me impressed. It’s by no means particularly outstanding, but it’s an instant attention-grabber. An amazing amount of ruching and gathering gives the leather an insanely supple look that just begs to be squeezed. And how could you resist not giving this fun purse a gentle little squash? Truthfully, the brown version reminds me of a raisin. I’ll stick with this chic black. Available for $595 at Saks.

Most Isabella Fiore creations leave me a bit cold, but the Tessa Bag is an exception. This pretty handbag is boxy and heavily decorated, but it’s not the usual overdone design typical of most Fiore pieces. The bronze hue is an attractive neutral that’s actually more brown. It’s accented by brass hardware, studs and various topstitched and embroidered elements. The overall look is a little country and chic at once. It’s a great weekend bag, perfect to pair with your casual jeans and tee ensemble and just spacious enough to hold your essentials. Available for $520 at JC Madison.

Oh dear. This hippie-dippie Isabella Fiore Peace Out Hobo should have died with the ’60s. I’m all for peace, love, and harmony, but I don’t need to advertise it with a garish peace-symbol on a brown leather purse, accented with colorful embroidered flowers and tassels. There’s bohemian chic and then there’s trying to look like the reincarnation of Janis Joplin, and this handbag falls into the latter category. Not the purse to buy if you’re hoping to be taken seriously.

You know, I’ve never been a big fan of birds, but there’s something about this bohemian Isabella Fiore Patent Peacock Tote that makes me want to throw on a long skirt, run around barefoot, and crank up the Fleetwood Mac. Yes, black patent leather embroidered with a colorful peacock print sounds like a recipe for disaster, but I think the bag is kind of charming in a Stevie Nicks way. Granted, I wouldn’t carry this everyday, but it’s a way to mix it up once in a while.

This Isabella Fiore Sarah Frame Bag in black leather just rubs me the wrong way. The long brass and leather shoulder chain is thankfully detachable, but you’re still left with that oddly curved pleated clutch and an awkward round handle. Who wants to carry that all night? The purse makes me think of corsets, in a old-fashioned bordello way. Not sexy, not practical, not worth buying.

Am I the only one who thinks mustard should go on hot dogs and nothing else? The dark yellow color of this Isabella Fiore Heidi Handheld Bag ruins it for me, though I also have problems with the woven Italian leather with geometric seam details and the granny frame. The weaving works on a large bag, like the Jill Hobo, but not in something this structured - and not in mustard yellow (ick). I’m not crazy about the leather-wrapped wooden handle, which would look better with a lighter bag. All in all, everything feels flat and not very pretty. I’d like to tell this Heidi “auf weidersehen.”
