Looks like Heidi Montag had to return her beloved Hermes Kelly purse to the good folks at Bag, Borrow or Steal (I keed, I keed). While the Hermes is on ice, Heidi’s showing off a seasonally appropriate bright blue Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag. The handbag (pretty as it is) doesn’t do much for Heidi’s not-so-coordinated outfit of white jeans, a gray sleeveless top, and a bright orange scarf, but it does really complement the blue in Spencer’s shirt, don’t you think? And vying for the Pursie for Best Accessory Performance in a Supporting Role is a Louis Vuitton monogrammed wallet…nice.

What a change from the other night! Rihanna is intent on setting a trend for herself with her black dominatrix-inspired performing outfits. While… interesting… I much prefer her in outfits like this one. They’re more light hearted and bright, much like Rihanna’s personality and smile. Here, she opts for a miniskirt and form fitting tank in a color that compliments her skin. To top if off, she casually tosses a Louis Vuitton Mahina handbag over her shoulder. This Vuitton line is rendered in a soft calf skin with subtle logo perforations and available in a few different colors. Expect Rihanna’s style to run you about $3,250. Just in time for Father’s Day. Louis Vuitton has announced the ‘couple’ they were hinting at as their new spokespeople are the Coppolas! This is definitely a surprising father/duo for a luxury brand campaign, but a terrific one at that. Sofia has been a fashion forward person herself on the red carpet, and a fashion trendsetter as a film director (”Marie Antoinette” inspired countless magazine spreads and store windows). Her father, while not directly associated with couture, is definitely a trendsetter as a filmmaker. However, his “Dracula” seemed to have tipped off a wave of velvets and Goth styling in the seasons after its release.

I remember when everyone had to have the Theda. This was back when Jessica and Nick were still married, and LV Murakami anything ruled the planet. The Theda isn’t a very functional bag, and I’ve honestly never seen anyone wear it well. I can see the direction Kim Kardashian is trying to go with her look…but the execution, well, it just ain’t happening. The bag is too much when paired with her print maxi and large gold earrings. I would have loved to seen her with a small clutch, but since this is KK we’re talking about, I guess it had to be over the top.

Looks like Ashlee Simpson wisely did her bridal registry at Louis Vuitton (hey - a Speedy is waaaaaaay more crucial than a Crock-Pot and egg cups in my book). The new Mrs. Pete Wentz was spied out and about carrying a funky Louis Vuitton purse from the label’s collaboration with artist Richard Prince. The collection, inspired by Prince’s “Jokes” series, features distressed, faded leather and embossed text over the standard LV monogram, with fun touches like orange python. While I love a classic Louis Vuitton handbag, I dig the quirky, modern update. It also suits Ashlee’s hipster chick style…but is that a baby bump she’s trying to hide?

This past Thursday, Mariana and I were invited to an intimate breakfast hosted by Louis Vuitton’s CEO of North America, Daniel Lalonde. While Mariana made it to the event with a little bit of mingling time to spare, I snuck in just as everyone was being seated (yes, I’m chronically tardy but in my defense, the taxi line by me was maddeningly long). We were part of a group of about 12 bloggers and online writers, elbowing our way to the coffee urn amongst half a dozen very chic (and very awake!) Louis Vuitton representatives. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to make out of being summoned to the St. Regis at 9am on a Thursday morning, and considering I’ve been known to write some not-so-favorable reviews on Vuitton products here and elsewhere (pretend with me for a moment that the Powers That Be at Vuitton actually read my drivel, yah?), I was a bit intrepid. But as soon as I stepped foot into the library, I was greeted and made to feel welcome immediately. After making clear that Louis Vuitton wanted to hear our opinions and ideas on how to be more accessible to the online community, Daniel Lalonde and Senior Vice President of Marketing Heather Vandenberghe, turned the floor over to us. Some highlights from the meeting:

- Louis Vuitton executives actually do read through all the feedback they get from their customer service center — imagine that!

- The new Journeys ad campaign for Vuitton will star a couple! They were a bit tight lipped on particulars but seem very excited by it. I’m thinking David Bowie and Iman would be perfect. Who do you think will be peering back at us from the glossies for Vuitton?

- A desire to move the company back to its former mystique with an emphasis on tradition was expressed. Whether this is a general Vuitton philosophy or a marketing strategy remains to be seen.

- Some discussion concerning the proliferation of Vuitton replicas. Apparently, part of the desire to keep the authentication features of Vuitton products inaccessible is to foil bootleggers.

- Heather Vandenberghe (in black Louboutin Decoltissimos and toting a Vuitton bag) and Daniel Lalonde (in a pin striped suit with tapered pant legs) both were fantastically chic, elegant and gracious. Did you expect any less?

Upon parting, the Vuitton team expressed their desire to foster the company’s relationship with online media, readers and consumers. Stay tuned for further updates.

I am quite possibly the least knowledgeable 18 - 40 year old North American female when it comes to Heidi Montag and her associates. Why? I find her and Lauren Conrad horribly boring. But today, I’ve changed my mind. This obviously very staged Mother’s Day moment between Heidi, her shadow (aka Spencer) and Heidi’s mom raised my blood pressure. The brain instinctively went into red alert. It screamed: SAVE THE KELLY! While Heidi’s mom looks cute and simple in her shirt dress, loafers and the ever classic monogram Louis Vuitton Batignolles, the beloved Hermes Kelly hanging off of Heidi’s arm makes me shudder. Upon closer inspection, this lovely Kelly looks to be fairly new and un-abused so I’m wagering that it actually belongs to some well-meaning but misguided stylist who loaned it for the purpose of this shoot. (Note to said Stylist: We need to talk.) I’m not sure of Heidi’s stature (horribly boring, remember?) so I can’t conclusively tell what size this lovely Kelly is, but I’m taking a guess that this is Hermes‘ Poussiere color, a lovely neutral with a sort of grayish undertone. The name literally means ‘dust’. I’ll leave you to the obvious witty parallels.

Recently, I reviewed the Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 30. It hangs from the arm of reality starlet Lo Bosworth, and sometimes my own, thanks to my sister (with her permission of course!). A pursepage.com reader inquired that though she likes the purse, she doesn’t like the way the base of the bag sags after good use.

The remedy? A Speedy base.

Made of leather-like material, the base sits at the bottom of your bag, filling it out and preventing the sag. Personally, I like the look of a well-worn Speedy, but to each her own. While I wouldn’t normally plug an eBay seller, I have to give props to seller jennycola. With flawless feedback (not to mention product), she offers everything you could ever need to keep your Speedy in tip-top shape!

This Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 30 was sort of on my whatever list…until I borrowed my sister’s. It’s for this sole reason that I’m writing this review in the first place. I can’t think of a handbag that is more lightweight or easy to carry, and the fact that it’s the Damier print makes it pretty wearable with any wardrobe. I’m not one for loud logos, so my LV monogram 35 was getting pretty lonely. Tired of carrying around the bags I own (spoiled, I know!), I tried out my sister’s Damier 30. So perfect! I am considering buying this bag for myself because I know it’s timeless, and while I thought the rolled handles would be a bother after awhile, they were perfectly comfortable to carry. Lo Bosworth does a great job of wearing hers with modern, simple clothing, preventing the purse from looking frumpy or boring (which is what drives a lot of people away from the bag in the first place).
