I’m not one for splattering red paint on fur coats, but can we send PETA to do something about this unfortunate Fendi Mink-Trimmed Wolf Fish Purse? And what on God’s good earth is a wolf fish, anyway? With its petite, boxy shape and gold and stone details, this purse had a lot of potential, but the haphazard mink adornment ruins it all for me. Guess Heidi Montag didn’t lose that Hermes Birkin handbag after all; she just swapped it for a different color. This ultra-white version is as blindingly bright as that “engagement ring” Spencer Pratt gave Heidi on “The Hills,” but undoubtedly worth a loooooot more. Say what you want about these two (really, go on – say it!), but there’s no denying that Heidi has killer taste in purses. Is it any wonder that her new single (groan) is called “Fashion”?

“Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively is lucky enough to wear some jaw-droppingly fabulous designer duds on the set, and it looks like she likes to take some of her work home with her. The starlet chose a very au courant Chloe Saskia purse to jazz up an otherwise basic (okay, kinda drab and very short; guess those “Traveling Pants” must be with America Ferrera or something) beige dress. Dog-sitting isn’t the most glamorous chore in the world, but the Saskia, with its chic pastel patches of croc, adds a fashionable, just-off-the-runway panache. Serena would definitely approve.

On average when you go out shopping for a bag, whats typically your limit?
Obviously if its a bag you’d die over you may be willing to spend a little more, but we’d like to know what your average budget is when you’re shopping for a new bag.

In the past we’ve focused mostly on the high end designer bags and what celebrities are wearing. Then we did this poll and some of you want us to take it down a notch. So we’d like to know what your price points are. And please leave a comment if you’d like to share your thoughts with us.

Last weekend, I pulled an older Marc Jacobs Blake from my closet to use. My BF, keen eye married to suspicious nature, stared at the pristine bag and accusingly said, “I’ve never seen THAT one before.” Truth is, he was right, but admitting it would just confirm and encourage his purse suspicions, so I said, “Of course you have! Every Tuesday, I bring you PursePage‘s Luxe For Less feature, where I scout out and recommend handbags based on the philosophy that you (almost) never have to pay retail for a great designer purse. Lately, with all the talk of a recession, and the cost of living holding steady or steadily climbing, many of my friends and acquaintances with similar shopping habits have started talking about the awful B word: budget. Judging from the fantastic deals to be had on the resale market of luxury goods lately, partially due to the dropping number of buyers, it would seem that many purse aficionados have already started trimming back on their handbag budget. Luxury goods usually are the first items to be cut from a budget, so I’m wondering how the economic downturn and uncertainly has affected PursePage readers.

This past weekend, like every woman in NYC, I headed to the theatres to see Sex and the City. (Don’t worry, no spoilers here for those who haven’t seen it but what are you waiting for??) While I was mentally cataloging every shoe and every handbag on the big screen, I came to wonder: how many of us purse-loving gals own as many bags as our favorite on-screen characters? The night before the movie opened, I was talking to my BF over dinner about my newest object of lust – a handbag, of course – and he stared at me blankly. After a period of silence, he asks, “Why do you need so many bags?” A completely sincere question because he, in his Y-chromosome world, cannot comprehend the concept of a handbag being more than just functional. I began thinking about my overstuffed bag and shoe closet and if I’m being completely honest (always a dangerous enterprise), it is possible to say that I have too much. But ‘too much’ is a relative concept, isn’t it? *wink* So I pass these questions on to you:

Oh no she diiiiiin’t! Not content with trying the swipe the spotlight from frenemy Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag of “The Hills” has gone and stolen LC’s style. We all know that Lauren’s the queen of Chanel handbags, but that didn’t stop Heidi from showing up to a party with a strangely familiar Chanel purse of her own. Is Heidi raiding Lauren’s closet? Has she been taking cues from “Single White Female”? Was she just trying to find something tasteful and beautiful to balance out the sleazy Spencer Pratt hanging on her other arm? Or is Chanel just so darn irresistible that even sworn enemies can share a common love for the in-demand handbags? I suspect all of the above.

But if Heidi starts wearing a headband, I think LC should really be worried.
