Proving that she doesn’t need a “Gossip Girl” stylist to look ultra-chic, actress Leighton Meester hit NYC in an adorable floral tunic-style frock from Thakoon, sexy black lace-up heels, and a more classic Tod’s D Bag. Though I’m not sure it 100% goes with the outfit (those shoes are pretty wild), it’s a beautiful handbag and I love the subtle topstitched details. And it’s pretty versatile thanks to its soft neutral hue. Blair would certainly approve.

Jessica Alba added some sizzle to her outfit with Tod’s G Bag in a sandy python print, which I think complements her look nicely while staying spring/summer-appropriate. Now if we could just do something about those jeans.

When you’re on the Tod’s payroll, you had best be carrying a Tod’s handbag. Sure enough, spokesmodel Gwyneth Paltrow was spied carrying this fetching purple Helmet Zip Media bag, a rather dressed-up complement to her, well, sorta sloppy outfit (get that cardigan to an iron, post haste!). The purse is lovely, and I love the rich hue, but I’m eager to see Gwynnie pair it with something equally sophisticated.

By now, it’s no longer that “new” to refer to Tod’s updated D-Bags as “new and restyled.” Then again, it’s amazing how a fresh coat of paint can keep these purses looking, well, new. Case in point: This geranium (their word, not mine) hued D-Bag Media handbag, a warm peachy/terracotta presentation that certainly stands from the pack. I love this look: a classic, yet modern purse, in a unique, gorgeous color. It’s definitely got a springtime sensibility, but don’t think I won’t be mixing it up with my winter black blazers and sweaters. Available for $1,495 at Eluxury.com.

I think we can safely chalk this up as a bad hair day for Renee Zellweger, she of the wind-ravaged locks. On the bright side, we can also chalk it up as a good hair day, given Ray-Zay’s chic Tod’s Pashmy Luna Nylon purse, casually styled across the body in a manner that works with her laidback outfit. Given the beyond-WASPy Tod’s campaign starring Gwyneth Paltrow, it’s nice to see their handbags translated to real woman style (if a movie star who gets paid to smooch Hugh Grant and Tom Cruise can be considered a real woman, that is). My, oh my. Isn’t it interesting when the titans go after each other? While all’s fair in love and fashion, I find it odd that TOD’S would come out with this shape for fall. Yes, it’s a classic and lovely tote, but if I wanted a Kelly knockoff, well, I’d get a Kelly knockoff—and you can bet I wouldn’t spend $2165 for the privilege.

I’ve bought TOD’S shoes in the past without scoffing at the price (ok I did scoff silently), but my flats were unique (grey-ish silver), have lasted me for years and look better with age. I have no doubt this bag will, too. I just wish the shape were a little more original.

Tod’s is the leather goods brand known for making elegant, understated pieces that you can look at and just know they cost a good penny. This Large Leather Bag is a great every day bag for anyone looking for a neutral, roomy bag. Available in both black and dark chocolate brown at yoox.com, the price is only knocked down a good amount ($515 from $858), but remember this is a classic bag that you’ll use and love for years to come. I especially like the hardware which is definitely there, but not overpowering.

I just reviewed this bag a few days ago on OC alum Rachel Bilson, and Purse Page readers identified it as the Tod’s Softy bag. Here it is, available at eluxury.com, in a gorgeous soft blush color. This is a great route to go if you already have a closet full of black and brown bags, and need something light, that isn’t white. Pale pink is a neutral that coordinates well with lots of darker shades, and also works surprisingly well year round. The Softy Messenger is on sale for $1,320.
