Well, you’ll have to be a bona fide “Icon” to drop $2,330 on this COTTON BAG. Yes, the Versace Icon Satchel has stellar liquid silver leather trim, but that hardly makes up for the insane price tag. I’m not one to shy from a pricey handbag (as I’m sure you know), but 2k+ on something that has a body made of cotton? Who am I; an Olsen twin? Besides the price, the purse is simply too futuristic for spring’s upbeat and downright dainty attitude. With so many other options for spring, who would want to box themselves in to a another black bag? The Versace Icon Satchel is available at nordstrom.com.

With a moniker like ‘Venus’ you’d think Versace would bring us a handbag that hits all the right notes and makes us feel… well, like a goddess. But they pulled a switcherooo on us and gave us this instead. To start, they cut a piece of silvery-gold metallic leather and fashioned it into a tote. Then, they patched on a marsupial-like pouch on the front and two gaping tumor-like sleeves on either side of the bag, in gold, VINYL coated leather with a geometric pattern, no less. Then, in over-the-top Versace fashion, they added more metallic in the form of hardware. Certainly, this Versace Venus Mirror Tote says “Look at me!” but probably not in the way you’d want. If you think you can make it work, pick one up at eLuxury for $2,245.

It looks like a handbag in which you could pack everything to conduct a hit, that’s for sure. This Versace Laminated Hit Bag is so futuristic chic, I’m contemplating financing a time machine just to look appropriate wearing it. It’s available in black and silver, and the latter really lets the purse speak volumes. I’m still thinking of looks for the bag, but I think lots of super dark rinsed denim and other organic materials would contrast the bag in a very modern way. Woo! We’re in metallic handbag overload here at Purse Page! The Versace Ostrich Stamped Small Metallic Boston purse (Jeez! Try saying that five times fast!) is for the gal that loves bling. Available in both gold and silver at eluxury.com, the bag retails for $1,590 and while it is all glitz and glamour, I’d still say it’s appropriate for day. I mean, who died and made the rule we can’t shine during the day? The purse is small enough to accompany you to a chic lunch, and while both versions are nice, the gold is especially sexy. Versace practicing restraint? That seems to be the case here: The Woven Envelope Bag manages to sit on the simple side, yet still attracts some attention with its metallic champagne leather. One can always expect the famous geometric print to make an appearance on a Versace purse, but it’s slightly underplayed on this quiet, dressy-but-low-key piece. In fact, this wouldn’t even be my first choice if I had a big night on the agenda, but it’s perfect for a relaxed date or for adding a hint of glitz to a more casual outfit. Talk about range. The purses at Versace’s Spring 2008 show veered from safe (if unspired) smooth leather handbags in neutral tones to large avant garde bags in coiled leather that, frankly, resembled intestinal lining. Tassles got their due, as did chunky plait-like bag handles. Obviously coiling and gathering was a big theme, from the afore-mentioned bags to a stylishly ruched clutch in blue. Highlights included a vibrant apple green ostrich satchel and a glam shimmering black bag with crocodile (there it is again) trim. Color-wise, the palette ranged from metallics to neutrals to bold shots of blue, green, and orange. Not everything was a hit, but there was lots to ogle.

On its own, this white Versace Quilted Snap Out Of It bag is totally fierce, thanks to its unique quilted leather, glam buckles, and gold leather handles. Taking ridiculous to a whole new level, Versace introduces its new Hit Bag covered in shocking (albeit bold) fox fur. If you’ve read this far without recoiling and possibly clicking away or wondering why Versace is now specializing in muppet-inspired couture, you’ll be happy to know that the Hit Bag is also available in much more tolerable metallic and croc print versions.
