I consider bags like this Kate Spade Les Fetes Metallic Quinn to be one trick ponies. They’re appropriate only for select occasions, and otherwise they end up at the back of the closet in their dust bags, only to be remembered vaguely many years later. It’s sad, too, because this bag is really adorable. I love the pink floral pattern, the metallic trim and the rich brocade fabric. It’s such a delightfully girly combination. The Kate Spade crew actually suggest that this is a “party-perfect piece,” but I don’t see it that way. It would be great for a poolside gathering with friends, a summer afternoon with the girls, or a sunny afternoon date, but it’s not really party material. The material is a bit too casual, the design too playful. So, in conclusion, one trick pony, yes – but definitely the cutest pony there is. Available for $295 at Kate Spade.
