There’s something for everyone in Merkin’s collection of primarily classic designs. While they do nod to current trends via chic color palettes and modern shapes, nearly everything designed by Merkin is timeless and completely functional. Some highlights:

Louise was one of my first designer clutches ever. When I first got my hands on it many years ago, Merkin was an up-and-coming designer who took the time to send a hand-written thank you note with my order. I’ve never forgotten that special touch, nor have I stopped using this lovely clutch, which is long, lean and utterly soft. Aged leather is something of an acquired taste, but when done right it looks absolutely elegant. Merkin’s Paige duffel bag is an excellent example. Distressed to the point of looking well worn and oft-used – yet not exactly old, per se – it exudes a vintage, weather-beaten vibe that makes it look pretty cool. I’d probably wear this with over-the-knee boots and skinny jeans, but many runway designers have a penchant for pairing bags like this with soft, frilly things.
