Tonya Hawkes Spring/Summer 2013

She’s worked for the likes of Furla and Donna Karan, so it somehow just makes sense that Tonya Hawkes would move on to develop her own line of handbags. The native Washingtonian introduces a line of statement clutches just in time for spring/summer 2013 – a true celebration of her creativity and vision. Here are some of my favorites:
I’m instantly taken by the warm, dusty hue of the Pink Sands Clutch. It’s caped with faux ivory lucite studs (which also run along the sides) and a stunning dome push-lock that itself is studded with little drops of gold. The overall effect is that of quiet, yet inarguable, glamour. It’s what I’d pair with a flowing, sleeveless maxi dress and gold sandals on a balmy evening.
Faux tortoiseshell detailing brings the Amazon Clutch to life, making the dark green viper snakeskin look even more intense. Despite being made of such an exotic material, it doesn’t feel fierce or even edgy – it’s more of a dramatic work of art that I’d be just as likely to keep on display in my living room.
