VBH Spring/Summer 2012

Few handbag labels epitomize luxury as easily and gracefully as VBH. Named for designer Vernon Bruce Hoeksema, the brand caters to those whose tastes run – nay, gallop – to the lavish and luxurious. There’s no wiggle room here; all bags are designed with meticulous attention to detail, assembled from stunning materials, and bathed in gorgeous color for a brilliant finish. And they’re all fairly classic, so the VBH you buy today will be just as chic in twenty years’ time.
If timelessness is your goal, look no further than the Brera 26CM Tote. It’s available in several colors, but this simple red version is by far the most striking. The softly pebbled calfskin leather is effortlessly pretty, and all it takes is a drop of low-key hardware to look complete. The wide silhouette is a ladylike alternative to the typical north-south shape, and it’s one I actually prefer for its crisp and polished appearance.
It’s not all work and no play at VBH, though. Enjoy a little downtime with the PM Clutch in your grasp. The festive exterior incorporates all manner of bright, cheerful colors that look just as appropriate during winter as they do in spring. Use it to brighten up an LBD or to add a splash to your crisp white suit come summer.
Exotic skin aficionados, take note: the ostrich Milano Tote doesn’t come cheap, but it will pay for itself in no time. The rich berry hue is a sophisticated, year-round color, but that’s not all that makes this bag so beguiling. The visible zipper adds a downtown-chic, slightly edgy appeal to an otherwise purely polished design. Good stuff – and worth saving for, if you’re in the market for a truly decadent handbag.
