My closet looks like a garden at the best of times, and though I think it’s time to start paring down my ever-blossoming collection, that task seems much easier said than done when I’m faced with the Valentino Fleurs Couture Tote. This thing is absolutely covered in big, lush, leather flowers that vary in color from cheerful poppy to somber gray. Throw in a little yellow, some fuchsia and a touch of black and it’s like the most unnatural bed of flowers you’ve ever seen. Could Reese Witherspoon be any cuter? Methinks not. The always polished star looked chic but approachable in a pink cardigan, tall boots and a pretty dress, but it’s her gray quilted Chanel purse that I’ve really got my eye on. Few things make me cringe more than denim accessories. I live in a world where denim is reserved for jeans and maybe the occasional jacket - but I draw the line there. Denim couches, belts and handbags? No. So this Dolce and Gabbana Miss Martini Jeweled Clutch doesn’t thrill me. It is somewhat tolerable, though, thanks to its jewel-encrusted flap cover. We all know Jessica Simpson loves her Louis Vuitton handbags - especially when she’s hitting the gym - but this monogram and leopard-print purse really pops. The rest of Jessica’s outfit is obviously much more winter-centric than glam, but I think the ensemble toes the line between cozy and chic.

In the dead of winter, nothing brightens things up like a shock of vibrant, in-your-face color. Even the drabbest days caused by the dullest weather suddenly seem tolerable if there’s a bold purse on your arm. It’s no secret that in the accessories and Rock n’ Roll world, the more spiked the better… (Rihanna’s dress, Adam Lambert’s shoulders, the nearest beverage, etc.) I love this Christian Louboutin Talita Clutch as it has a tribal, intimidating quality. The colors are bold, the spikes require the bearer to hold it strategically. Any would-be thieves and unworthy suitors would be wise to proceed with caution.
