Hi AnnaMaria! I’ve found a few tan totes that I hope you’ll like. I completely agree that $495 is a bit much, especially when you’re just finishing school. Besides, $200 seems like a very reasonable budget! My personal favorite is the Clava Vachetta Small Shopper, it’s got long shoulder straps, extremely soft leather, and it’s a great price. Even though it took me a second (okay, more than that) to find the actual bow on this Miu Miu Bow-Embellished Leather Tote, I’m still completely smitten by the bag. It never fails, really – new season, new Miu Miu bag to covet. Though a flash of light, pearlized pink doesn’t exactly scream “winter,” it’s not really inappropriate for the season either. You can easily see why the Alexi Carryall Bag by Guess is such a big seller. First, it’s exclusively sold on the Guess website. Second, the splashes of color and their placement really make for an interesting look. The shape of the bag is pretty basic, but the black glazed vinyl borders and straps ground this purse, and the shots of lavender against the red background give it a nice edge without going overboard. Though I really like most of the Folli Follie bags I’ve seen lately, the Elements Shoulder Bag falls short of expectations. The sad truth is that brightly colored PVC can look pretty darn cheap at the best of times, and that’s exactly what has happened here. So glossy you could probably check your lipstick on it in the right light, Elements is a bag that means well – it’s smartly shaped and has all the little bells and whistles you’d ask of a proper handbag – yet ultimately falls short. I just can’t imagine spending $230 on a bag that doesn’t actually look like it was $230. Available at Lord and Taylor.
