Colorblocking has definitely advanced itself a bit in recent months. You still do see a lot of the same old, same old, but every now and then something like this MaxMara Alberta Colorblock Hobo shows up. Made of deep orange leather, it’s accented with an interesting-looking, wide-snap pocket in shades of red and brown. I’d file this under the “now I’ve seen everything” category. The Marie Turnor Accessories The Picnic Clutch was described as having taken “inspiration from the utilitarian paper lunch sack.” There are two versions – this fiery red and a rather unadventurous tan that looks like an actual lunch bag. I do kind of love the fold-down magnetic flap, but otherwise just imagine how impractical this would be to carry around town. It’s more weird than wonderful, that’s for sure. I didn’t need to see the name to determine that this bag was Indian. This is starting to feel like a “seen one, seen ‘em all” type of situation. While I usually just love looking at various Alexander McQueen clutches and seeing what kind of craziness the team has dreamed up this time, I find myself a little bored with the Knuckle Embroidered Satin and Tulle Box Clutch. Is it just me or does this look like many McQueen clutches of the past? The ornate floral embellishments, the heavy texture, the complex knuckle-duster handle. It’s a must for a McQueen maniac, I suppose, but if you’re going for something that’s not been done before in any fashion, this won’t be your best bet. Available for $5825 at Net-a-Porter.

The punchy little Coach Legacy Perforated Tanner Mini Tote is special mainly because it’s available in an array of pretty colors. I’m feeling this robin’s egg blue, but it’s also available in light coral and chalk. The punctured aesthetic is what makes this tote noteworthy; without it, it’s just a plain old tote. I love the color, along with the very necessary tassel accent. Available for $268 at Nordstrom.
