Let’s face it, whatever they’re really about, most holidays provide retailers with another reason to have sales, and Columbus Day is no exception. But any sale that you can get in on before the holidays will put you that much closer to whittling down your gift-giving list!

We checked in at Macy’s and found some pretty good deals on some pretty nice purses – and through Monday, you can get 15% off regular and sale items with the coupon code SAVEMORE. The key to some of these department store sales is checking the long list of items that are excluded. In this case, designer bags are not eligible. However, I found a number of hot handbags that would be a welcome addition to your wardrobe and make great gifts as well. Check these out!

I love the colors used in the Tignanello Urban Stitch Tote. The color-blocked suede tote is clean and classy in slate gray, charcoal and grape. This bag regularly sells for $149, and it was on sale for $110.99, but with the coupon you can get yours for $94.34!

Love paisley? The Tulip Glazed Paisley Tote by Giani Bernini will remind you of styles gone by, but it’s been updated to fit right in with today’s fashions. Last but not least, the Nine West Center Stage Medium Shopper is a nice all around bag that you could feel good about carrying just about anywhere. It’s got the ever-popular croc embossed look, but at a fraction of the price of most designer bags. This little shopper started out at $75, was on sale for $55.99, and can now be purchased for a mere $47.59.
