Somedays, I just can’t get it together with what I’m wearing. After a few passes through my closet, I give up and throw on something basic. My only saving grace is a great handbag, and this Franchi Camila is the perfect one to distract from an otherwise drab outfit. Not only are the colors bold and bright, but the fabric is actually wrapped in an interesting way to make a three-dimensional flower-like shape. My boring LBD and I are eternally grateful. Marc Jacobs had Bianca Jane on a Leash. Now Rebecca Minkoff brings us Studded Wallet on a Chain. Okay, perhaps the name lacks the certain je ne sais quoi of the former, but it makes up for it with its impressively edgy, right on-trend design. Where to begin? How about that bright orange, bordering-on-tangerine hue? It’s the juiciest color of the year, but now is definitely the time to wear it. With a flap bathed in studs, it’s hard to ignore the wallet’s presence. Bold color and extreme detailing don’t always play well together, but Minkoff makes magic with this little number. Something must be in the water over at Lanvin, because the label is suddenly producing the kinds of bags that I can’t resist – something noteworthy, considering I never paid them much attention before. Now, though, I’m paying attention and moolah – at least, I will be if the Brass Box Clutch has its way and totally takes control of my finances. I’m a big fan of the box silhouette trend, and this is easily one of the most persuasive interpretations yet. While others appear merely, well, boxy, this comes off as polished, structured and elegant, with a beautiful eggplant color competing for attention with a vivacious orange. Could this bag BE any smaller (said in my best Chandler Bing voice)? I suppose it’s the size that makes the Ventidue Leopard Fluoro Spike Bag work, though, because anything larger would be massive overkill. There’s already a lot going on here, what with the leopard pony hair flap and crazy orange-red leather body. On the positive side, it has a long gold strap, which is almost always chic. Oh, and it’s also spiked with gunmetal along the sides. Kind of a bag that wants to be edgy but falls short because it’s just so flipping small! Available for $398 at Pixie Market.
