Of all the fall/winter 2014 shows, the Narciso Rodriguez showing may have impressed me the most. I’m talking about breathtaking pieces: vampy heels in bright orange, beautifully cut wool dresses, refined tops with a stylistic twist. Nestled among the fashions were equally stunning handbags, a few of which I’ve gathered here for your viewing pleasure.
Shape was a major theme at the show, and it’s something profoundly expressed on the Carolyn Baguette Bag. The sharply angled base crafts what could be considered the anti-baguette – it’s edgier, far from demure and pretty hot in this fiery shade. Carried by hand or worn over the shoulder, Carolyn is a force that will shake up your wardrobe immediately.
Colorblocking and geometry? Sounds like a teacher’s lesson plan, but it’s actually the foundation for the artfully executed Lygia Clutch. Giving new meaning to the colorblocking trend, it features actual blocks of color of varying sizes and in severely opposing colors. Don’t be alarmed by the strip of harmless lilac – it’s not competition enough for that scene-stealing red.
